Above you’ll find links to downloadable editions of the text of Little Brother. These downloads are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-ShareAlike license, which lets you share it, remix it, and share your remixes, provided that you do so on a noncommercial basis. Some people don’t understand why I do this — so check out this post if you want my topline explanation for why I do this crazy thing.

It’s kind of a tradition around here that my readers convert my ebooks to their favorite formats and send them to me here, and it’s one that I love! If you’ve converted these files to another format, send them to me and I’ll host them, but before you do, make sure you read the following:

  • Only one conversion per format, first come, first serve. That means that if someone’s already converted the file to a Femellhebber 3000 document, that’s the one you’re going to find here. I just don’t know enough about esoteric readers to adjudicate disputes about what the ideal format is for your favorite device.
  • Make sure include a link to the reader as well. When you send me an ebook file, make sure that you include a link to the website for the reader technology as well so that I can include it below.
  • No cover art. The text of this book is freely copyable, the cover, not so much. The rights to it are controlled by my publisher, so don’t include it with your file.
  • No DRM. The Creative Commons license prohibits sharing the file with “DRM” (sometimes called “copy-protection”) on it, and that’s fine by me. Don’t send me the book with DRM on it. If you’re converting to a format that has a DRM option, make sure it’s switched off.

I really enjoyed “Little Brother” when I read it several years ago. I think about it almost daily now. About a year ago I made a Tweet on Twitter about our current president which was “negative” but truthful concerning his political leanings as he has expressed in his earlier writings. I was surprised the next day to see he had signed up as a “Follower” of mine, (and still is), and also “Homeland Security” is also a “Follower’ of mine on Twitter now. My wife has told me that on numerous occasions she has detected “someone listening in” on her phone conversations with her mom and sister.

The Orwellian reality is beginning to become more obvious every day here in the United States.

I read George Orwell’s novels back in the 60’s while in high school, and have always felt it was just a matter of time before the “1980”‘s story would become a reality. 1980 came and went by, and many people forgot about the novel that dated itself. But that 1980’s reality is alive and flourishing among us daily. Newspeak aka PC is pushing its way into our lives more and more each day.

I remember Ray Milland’s portrayal and his defeat at the end of the movie, and at 65 years of age, I wonder, “Is it too late to turn back the seemingly all-powerful, Big Brother?”

I just finished Little Brother and the news broke out about the NSA whistleblower. Now isn’t that something!!!

    Loved the book.

I’ve been sharing this with some friends, and it is a very entertaining story on the surface, with all of the drama my friends and I like, but it also leaves one to think in the days and weeks following it.

I’ve shared this with my PoliSci and CrimJ classes, too.

    Cory-

I’ve been using your novel in my classes for a couple of years now. I assign it in conjunction with 1984 and Handmaid’s Tale, and it delights and surprises students every time.

They’re about 2/3 done now, and I’d like to know if you’re available for a Skype chat?

I’ve signed here with my school email address–I know you must be very busy, so I realize this is a long shot.

Thanks so much for a great story that raises tons of interesting questions.

Hey, Stacy! Please email about this — the short answer is that I’m booked for the rest of the year, but have some availability in 2014. Thanks for getting my books in your students’ hands!

I have a slightly different story to share how I ended up here. I got the book as a paperback, from a guest who had been cycle touring and camping in the rain, getting his copy thoroughly wet. I started reading, while the book started collecting mold on the side.

After two days I decided that the moldy and stinky book was a potential health hazard. But I was already addicted to the story. :) So I went online to search for a download, and was of course happy to find it here!
