Here’s a scene from Citizenfour, Laura Poitras’s acclaimed documentary on Edward Snowden, showing Snowden packing his bags to leave Hong Kong, showing the book on his nightstand: my novel Homeland.

I literally could not be more proud than I am right now. Thanks to Poitras and her helper, Maria, for this clip.

I just saw the movie and saw your book on the table and immediately had to check it out. I saw that “Homeland” was the sequel to “Little Brother” so I downloaded and just started reading that.

Fantastic. I read the two big Snowden books last year (Greenwald and Harding) plus ones on Assange and Manning, but only discovered Cory Doctorow recently – i am embarrassed to say – through my favourite podcast The Long Now foundation. I loved Little Brother and am working my through Homeland now and I keep being amazed that these books were written pre Snowden and couldn’t help wondering if Snowden was a fan. Thus has just lead me to googling “Doctorow Snowden” which lead me here. Wow.

I love the books, they really bring home the tech privacy issues in a digestible way and are damned exciting and well written. Thank you so much.

BTW my local library had them available for download as audio books, lucky me :)

What Brian said was why I started reading it – been on my to-do list for a while – and what Alan said is why I googled “Snowden homeland book”…

Likewise, I saw your book on the side in the Citizen Four film and bought it and the prequel. I am really enjoying the books, great reads that I cannot put down! Looking forward to discovering your other books. Any other authors you would recommend?

I’m in the middle of reading Homeland, which I am enjoying a lot. But I’m having a hard time understanding what exactly would happen between Joe (the independent candidate) and Marcus if he leaks the info Masha gave him.

Saw Homeland in the film, saw that it was a sequel and immediately put a hold on Little Brother at the library (love how librarians fight for privacy.) Frighteningly prescient. I’ll look for more Snowden book recomendations ;)
