I wouldn't call that video short ;), really interesting stuff though. The numbers about YouTube really get you to think.
The discussion of the three strikes policy and the example of the payment wickets being closed down leaving the Internet as the only medium for bill payment being an "information death penalty" (I think that's what you called it) was especially interesting. However, I think it's important to note that currently as it stands not everybody has access to computer and the Internet, so we're already imposing the penalty on those that aren't guilty of anything but being poor.
@Jon: Indeed many people don't have computers or internet, but that is not directly because of poverty. You are right when considering very poor people, but at least here in Canada, if you can get welfare or disability, then you can be on the internet. I know this from experience. :) I see more discarded usable computers than I can find people who know, or wish to learn, how to use them. The "poor people" in this case is the rapidly growing group who is poor in education (self or otherwise) who cannot navigate this technology. It's really about taking ownership, and there are both poor and rich who either don't see the need, or can't muster the effort to understand.
