Visit the Sins, Part 01

Here's the first part of a two-part podcast of my story Visit the Sins, which was originally published in Asimov's in 1999 and reprinted in Hartwell's Year's Best SF volume 5. This story deals with attention deficit disorder, the effect that cognitive problems have on families, and how your mental state and your technology are intimately related.

   A thought-provoking tale, indeed.

   Testimony to its truth is the odd problem I had while listening to the mp3. I was playing it on Windows Media, and the visualizations kept disengaging me from the narrative. I would abruptly realize that I was no longer following the story, but had become absorbed by the way the shifting, streaming shapes and colors followed the cadence and tone of your voice.

   To your credit, sir, your story kept switching my ADD-riddled brain back on, despite its best efforts to achieve zero activity. :-)

   [Somebody please let me know when the class action suit against MTV gets under way. The process is way too complex for me to initiate, but I'll by gum certainly sign an affidavit.]

   Anyway, I'm looking forward to Part 2 of the podcast. Keep up the sharp writing.
