1. Fold a square sheet of paper into eighths
|

2. Fold the sheet along one of the diagonal
creases you've made, forming an isoceles triangle
3. Hold the sheet so that the tip of the triangle points upwards |

4. Pinch the folded triangle to the left of the
crease running down its vertical middle
5. Bring the right corner up towards the middle, slowly. The right half of the sheet will open along the lateral crease you made in step 1. When done, the lateral crease will form two corners at right angles to the sheet. 6. Repeat on the left hand side, so that you have a diamond formed by a 45' rotated square |

7. Hold the diamond flat in front of you, open end
up. Note that both the left and right halves are
composed of two "leaves". Fold each leaf's edge
inward, as when making the nose of a paper
airplane, to the center crease. The result will be
a pointier diamond with a fat end. Unfold the
leaves
8. Once again, hold the diamond flat in front of you, open end up. If you are holding it correctly, from above you will see that on either side, there is a contiguous piece of paper, and in the center, there are two folded triangles of paper. Fold the flat piece facing you towards you, so that it opens the folded triangles in the center. Use the creases you made in 7 as guides, and open out so that the side facing you turns into a pointy diamond with sides of equal length. Repeat on other side. |

9. Note that one end of the diamond is composed of two folded triangles, while the other is made from whole paper. Fold the edges of the open ends of the triangles, on both sides, to the center, as with a paper airplane. Once again, you have a diamond where one end is poitnier than the other. Ootology recapitulates Phootology or whatever. |

10. Open the paper at right angles to itself -- sorry, there's gotta be a better way to say that. Spread the left and right edges of the page outwards, to that the insides become the outsides. Shit. Just look at the picture. |

11. Now, fold the narrow ends of the diamonds back as far as they'll go. |

12. Do the right-angle-opening-thing from step 10
again.
13. Fold the broad flaps down as far as they'll go. |
