Christ Community Church in Alamagordo, New Mexico is planning a Harry Potter book burning, proving that the U.S. has its own set of fundamentalist zealots. "These books encourage our youth to learn more about witches, warlocks, and sorcerers, and those things are an abomination to God and to me," sez the pastor, Jack Brock. Responding to his charges, author J.K. Rowling cast a spell on the pastor, turning him into a plump, oily green frog. (Okay, that last part I made up...)

Roaring Rockets — the real origins of space travel were in the fevered brains of the creators of budget-compromised space fiction from the earliest daze of television. This site covers Captain Video and Tom Corbett, Space Cadet (I had a Tom Corbett, Space Cadet lunch box in the mid-50s, and that shot of cadets in space suits digging the moon were not too far from the televised lunar Apollo 11 images.

Blue Planet Challenge: thirteen cool Flash games that're also great tools for an exploration of nature and ecology. In the 'Web of Life,' for instance, you can explore coral reefs, find out what creawtures live there, who eats who, etc.
